Participants: Residents of the neighborhoods Katmon and Beit Safafa, Jerusalem.
The artist Itamar Shamshoni wanted to breathe new life into the forgotten toys and in the process create new dreams. For this purpose, he invited groups of adults and teenagers from the neighborhoods of Katmon and Beit Safafa to the factory workshop in the Ginogli visual arts space. They dismantled old toys that no one wanted and assembled them into something new and exciting. They started working with construction cardboard, created a world of animals through coating with plaster bandages on an iron base and plaster casts. Touch and feel the material in order to take the object out of its normal context and give it a new life. Other techniques they practiced were paper pulp, polyurethane foam.
The exhibition presents video clips, created by the video artist Anna Maria Hora, documenting the training of the workers and behind the scenes of the exhibition "Factory City" which will be shown at the Teddy Gallery in August.
